Review of "I see white clouds"

Reverend Angel Madera
and Mirna Madera

Reverend Angel Madera is admired by many not only for overcoming life's most painful event, "the death of his son" but also for his ability to see beyond the ordinary. Rev. Angel has a revelation of God's word unlike anyone I have ever seen. His nonjudgmental character and his love for others make him a magnet for the brokenhearted. His knowledge and wisdom make him an informational source for pastors and ministers. His faithfulness, devotion and integrity make him a trustworthy enough Minister in which hands Pastors can entrust their flock when they need a sabbatical. Reverend Madera and his wife Mirna are a blessing and an irreplaceable contribution to all that know them. In this review you will see how Rev. Angel was able to capture the essence of the novel to a level that many would not be able to see. He shed light to hidden areas within the story that only someone that has gone through a traumatic storm could do. You will get a glimpse of his ability to dissect a metaphoric story and make it relatable to everyone that reads it. ENJOY!

Looking for spiritually charged symbols that elevate the soul and usher in healing are necessary for the transitions of life after one has experienced tragic and traumatic events. In the short novel "I see white clouds", author Millie Perez Gonzalez takes us on a journey within the life of the protagonist named Priscilla ,who is battling her way back to wholeness and renewed dreams after having experienced great loss due to a storm that left only devastation and broken dreams in it's wake. Many of us who have passed through the waters of tragic experiences can relate to the main character in so many ways ,which makes this novel so inviting to the soul once you begin to look within the pages of this novel..

The metaphorical uses of places and emotions help to provide the readers with the insight as to how to re-engage with not just life and one's dreams but with the most important element of all which is one's soul. Many who have struggled to get back on the course of life after tragedy have done so due to not opening the doors to oneself first so that they can re-engage with life externally. In the chapters of this book you will see how Dark clouds, which is a symbol of uncontrollable, unauthorized forces, can invade the human life and come against your White clouds, which for a season seem to quenched, but Millie does a wonderful job of showing us that its only for a season. There are other characters that we can relate to also which remind us how we can be stuck in places of healing but never receive the healing offered. One of those characters is named Lolita who because of her trauma has conjured up for herself the calling to protect Squirrels. This character reveals what happens to those who because of traumatic events will invent a calling for the sake of not losing a total grip on oneself and life's purpose which is to care for the innocent, which as you read this book you will learn that Lolita has not totally lost her grip on reality but eventually finds love in a dark place. The character named Tom is one who shows us that tragedy and trauma also effect those of high society, but that he too finds love in the place where hope cannot be purchased but is renewed in love.

This novel provides a look as to what happens when we construct " Forts" that have the appearance of protection but serve as a fortified jail cell for the soul. Where we feel we are protecting ourselves from the pain of the past in reality we are enforcing its enclosure thus preventing healing and life from coming in.Millie has done a wonderful job of even providing a comedic display of her writing style thus showing us that you can laugh in painful places but that laughter is even richer when we come out to the other side of tragedy. In this novel I find that we all tend to "drift away " for the sake of not facing the acceptance of what has happened to us.This novel shows us that after we have faced the voices on the other side of the door that haunt us in the night, when we should be resting and recuperating, in reality it is our souls calling us to open up so that the healing can begin thus causing our "drifting away" to subside. I've enjoyed this book from beginning to end because it focuses on the importance of sound mental health for the purpose of laying hold of our dreams and peace within ourselves. Transformation after tragedy can only take place after we accept that Dark clouds roll in but so do White clouds.

We were not created to live in denial of dark clouds, for that is not true faith, but rather, like Priscilla, we are to move past them energized through love for oneself and faith on what is true concerning God and life.I enjoyed seeing the transformation that takes place in Priscilla once she faces down the dark clouds and finds herself seeing her white clouds all over again. This novel will bless your soul and spirit with words written for the purpose of encouraging the broken soul to not lose hope but rather to embrace a renewed hope through self acceptance and help from outside agencies that serve to guide us to "refreshed rooms" in our souls and impart the courage needed to unlock the doors of repressed experiences. After reading this novel and comparing it to my own experiences with tragedy I can say that Millie is right on point as to what can take place if you repress or if you release.

My dark clouds came to my life one day through the death of my ten year old son but I can tell you that although that was thirteen years ago those clouds no longer are present. To everyone who reads this review I assure you will enjoy this novel and be blessed by its theme. The question is not if you will see white clouds before the storm but rather " Do you see white clouds after the storm?". If you don't,I believe this novel could very well help you to begin to see them coming in the distance.
