Holiday Challenge

As the holidays approach I find myself trying to figure out ways to continue to help my kids understand and appreciate the spiritual meaning behind all of the commercial hoopla. I have to admit that it is NOT an easy task.  Most of the time they look at me like "whatever mom, here is my gift list" lol.  I try not to get discouraged and maintain the faith that I'm sowing seeds that will bear fruit in their adult life.

However, there are little things that help reinforce my efforts. The other day during dinner I asked the boys what was their favorite thing about Christmas.  Without hesitation they began to talk about all of the intentional traditions that we share every year instead of the GIFTS! what?? really?? that was a complete surprise to me.  They talked about the short devotion we have before opening our gifts and about the huge breakfast I make after they open them. They also mentioned the Christmas pajamas I make them all wear (yes including their dad) lol
It filled my heart with joy to know that the traditions were the first things that came to their minds when asked about the holidays, even though they roll their eyes with impatience when we are going through them. lol

With this in mind I decided to begin a holiday challenge for my family this year. Every Wednesday until Christmas day, I will do something intentional to remind us of how blessed we are. I will begin on Nov.20.

Challenge #1
Ask a few friends over for hot cocoa.
We will host and serve them as our special guest.
Hence making our first challenge fellowship & serving.

If you would like to join me in this challenge, feel free to do so.  I will post the details on my blog, feel free to comment, give your opinions, suggestions or questions

Thanks for reading....
