This blog is about life's experiences and the lessons learned from them. Its name "Four Girls and a Lady" is my way of honoring my mother for being brave enough to step out of an abusive marriage and raise four girls as a single mother. Thanks for reading!

The first of three "make summer memories" challenge
This summer I set my mind to make memories with my family and friends. In the past I have seen too many people that their number one regret is not living intentionally. I refuse to have that regret in my life. I want to be on my death bed with a big smile on my face knowing that I made the most out of the most precious gift God gave me; my life. I want to challenge you to do the same; make a daily decision to not allow petty things ruin your day, take control of your emotions and live intentionally.
Does this mean I have this down packed? NOWAY! Trust me I have my days where my true "intention" is to run far far away from home. LOL But its a daily choice, some days are good and some not so good. The more we practice the less "not so good" days we will have.
One thing I have worked really hard to do is to make what my kids think about me, more important than what others think about me. I include them in my writing by telling them what my blog is about each week. I show them the pictures I will be posting etc. Most of the time they could care less hahaha and just to be nice they pretend to pay attention; but that doesn't matter, what matters is how it makes them feel inside. They know that mom values their opinion and they feel included in all that's important to me. From time to time they ask about the number of hits or about which new countries have logged on to my blog. So I know that deep inside somewhere they feel a part of my journey.
My first suggestion for the "make summer memories" challenge is a park day.
This challenge could be for friends, couples, or fam with kids.
1.Pack your bikes.
2. Prepare a picnic basket. Mine will include; ham & cheese sandwiches and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. A bag of chips, and a Gatorade. Easy breezy.
3. Pack balls, or whatever it is you want to do at the park.
4. No phones or electronics of any sort.
5. Plan a hiking scavenger hunt. You can print one up from Google.
6. Choose a park with a nice bike trail.
7. You can also just walk the trail using the scavenger hunt list.
8. Don't over think it just have FUN!
Trust me, this may not seem like much, but my kid's favorite memories are the times that we have done simple things like this.
Lets go out and explore, discover, and enjoy nature!
